8:00pm – Sparkling Urbana is an all-queer, all-trans Chicago rock/grunge band bringing loud noise, melodic crunch, and DIY punk heart to the stage. Their sound mixes ’90s queercore energy, grungy guitars, emo grit, and folk-style storytelling, with songs powered by what they describe as “queer joy, queer rage, and caffeine.” With releases including “Debra” and the EP Give It Extra Teeth, Sparkling Urbana brings a raw, catchy, high-energy set built for loud rooms, queer community, and anyone who likes their rock messy, honest, and alive.

9:00pm – Free Joel is a rock ’n’ roll band with members across Indiana and a footprint in Northwest Indiana and Chicago. Their sound mixes heavy riffs, blues, psychedelic rock, and upbeat ’70s-inspired grooves into a loose, danceable rock set built for loud rooms. With a lineup of Noah Martin, Jillian Burton, Kyle Krawczyk, and Reid Webber, Free Joel brings classic rock swagger, funky movement, and modern Midwest energy to the stage.

10:00pm – Oister Boy is a thrashy grunge-punk band from Minneapolis/Twin Cities, bringing feral energy, jagged riffs, scream-along hooks, and fast, driving rhythms. Their sound hits somewhere between alternative rock, grunge, punk, and raw Midwest basement-show chaos, with a live set built to get loud, sweaty, and cathartic. With releases like Smile More, Faces, and Wycliff St., Oister Boy brings a sharp, emotionally charged rock set made for fans who like their bands messy, heavy, and fully in your face.

11:00pm – Hobo Circus – WARNING: Hobo Circus is back in Chi-town after over 40 years! In the early 1980s, Hobo CIrcus was the most raucous, loudest original acoustic trio based in Champaign-Urbana. They played from street corners to saloons across Illinois, but chose to part ways in 1983 rather than self-destruct.
Since then, members have been musiking individually in capital cities (IL, NM, NY, TX) and are finally ready to reunite and reignite their tunes. The group is again led by Hobo Coble. The others are hesitant to provide names due to probable lawsuits and outstanding warrants. One thing is for sure–this event will be fantastically freakish! See them one night only at Montrose Saloon. They’ve been thrown out of worse places.
